Emergency surgery was in order, and major surgery at that. Our wonderful vet, Dr. Carolyn McCutcheon, removed approximately 18 inches of damaged muscle and tissue, leaving poor Aspen with a 14” incision stretching from her shoulder to her ‘armpit.’ But our little Aspen is quite the trooper, and is doing very well. She is expected to make a full recovery, and will complete her heartworm treatment and go on to have her hip surgery in the near future. She is affectionately referred to as our ‘million dollar dog’ by rescue volunteers.
We'll be seeing a specialist within the next week or so to find out exactly what we're looking at and what it will cost. So please keep her in your prayers. She's so very sweet, and really deserves relief from her pain and a chance at a normal life. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation towards Aspen's surgery, you can do so by clicking the button below. We will keep this page updated with news and new pics of her as she progresses.
Meet Aspen, a beautiful, female long-haired white GSD. She is approximately 2 years old.
Aspen just arrived to rescue today (4/9) and we are getting to know her. She will be going to our vet tomorrow morning for a heartworm test and check-up. So far she has been wonderful with the children and other dogs in her foster home. She's a very sweet, playful girl.
We'll post more about Aspen after her vet visit and as we get to know her. She does appear t be housetrained, and so far has had very good house manners.
Please Click Here to fill out an application. This is the first step in our adoption process. No adoption will be considered or discussed until this has been completed and received.
Aspen must go to an indoor home where he will be an important part of the family. We do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21. Our adoption fee is $250.
