Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Urgent! Meet Ruby Roo!! Ruby Roo is searching for a new TEMPORARY FOSTER HOME due to her current caretakers work schedule, while she waits for the perfect forever home!! Ruby Roo has some old ripped up toys from all the dogs she loves to carry around, as shown in photo. She is a young pitty weighing about 70 lbs and she is a sweetheart. Ruby is a little shy when meeting new people but after just a little bit of time and patience she warms up, especially for a treat! Ruby Roo is house trained, crate trained, knows her basic commands...she is smart and learns fast. Ruby is fully vaccinated and spayed. Ruby Roo was found running loose, no collar or microchip. A great family took her in to keep her safe and reported finding her to all the required agencies, but no one was looking for this sweet girl ;-(. They contacted Love-A-Stray to help find her a forever home. She has the funniest way of laying with her paws tucked under, as shown in photo, maybe she is praying for her new home! Ruby would do best with a male dog friend or as the only dog. Her current foster has older dogs and Ruby Roo has the typical energy of a young dog, so she is looking for a new foster or home where she can run and play. Ruby would love a fenced yard but is it not required. She has lots of energy and at 70 pounds could knock a toddler down, so we are looking for an active home with children over the age of 10 years old.
If you are interested in Ruby Roo please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Ruby Roo would be a perfect match for you and your family. We are looking for adoption within a 100 mile radius of Avon Lake Ohio, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $100.00.
If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with medical expenses and ongoing care. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O. Box 125, Attn: Ruby Roo, Avon Lake, OH 44012 or visit www.loveastraydog.com for credit card/PayPal information, adoption application, available dogs and upcoming events. Thank you!

Meet the Pet
We do not have a physical facility. A meet and greet will be scheduled with a Love-A-Stray Volunteer, the dog, and our interested adopters.
Additional adoption info
Love-A-Stray is a non-profit all volunteer rescue group with most of our volunteers also having full time jobs, so we do the best we can to answer all inquires as soon as possible.
We ask that you complete our adoption application, so we can lean a little bit about you to ensure we can help find your perfect match.
Please do not ask us to ship our dogs out of state. WE DO NOT SHIP! We require adopters to fill out an adoption form and agree to the terms of our adoption contract. All pets are spay/neutered and vaccinated.
In addition to looking on the website, we show many of our rescued dogs at regular adoption events. Check out our upcoming events for the next opportunity to meet some of our dogs in person.

More about this rescue
Love-A-Stray is a non-profit, all volunteer, no-kill organization dedicated to helping homeless animals.
Since Love-A-Stray doesn't have a "physical" shelter and our animals are housed in foster homes, we do not have some of the usual operating expenses that would be required for a shelter. Consequently adoption fees, fundraising efforts, and donations go directly to a great cause - the animals! Our four fold mission is to:
1. Lessen pet overpopulation by sterilizing adoptable animals and employing aggressive low-cost spay/neuter programs in an effort to provide financial assistance for families who otherwise would not be able to sterilize their pet.
2. Offer housing for unwanted, homeless animals and when necessary, provide medical treatment including emergency veterinary care.
3. Value the life of all rescue animals by providing innovative behavior rehabilitation, when applicable, and placing them from nurturing foster families into loving, compatible, permanent homes.
4. Educate the public on the importance of being an advocate for animals emphasizing humane treatment and sterilization.
