My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: 2021

Sonya (blue) 3-year-old & Haru (yellow) 2-year-old, budgies.
They look to be both Females.
They are a very highly active, sweet, bonded pair that enjoy each other's company.
Occasionally they will have a little tift over a favorite perch, but quickly
resolves with them sharing :)
They can be a bit chatty, usually when near an open window and they hear the outside birds
The foster home has feeders outside and a lot of outside birds visit them.
Other than that they are very quiet, especially at night when covered.

The diet consists of seeds and pellets.
We have tried fruit, watermelon, cantaloupe, kiwi, and strawberries but are not interested.
They of course LOVE the spray millet.
They love shredding their 'shreddable' toys.

They bathe once every 2 weeks or so and prefer using a fountain
water bowl to bathe because I never managed to get them used to the sink

Not interested in being held as of now, but we are working on that.
Not aggressive at all.
They have never bit or even nipped at me.

These two are being fostered in Haddon Heights, NJ
They will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance.
We will NOT ship our birds.
For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA
We do not have a central location.

Sonya and Haru are living in a volunteer's private home
We only allow approved applicants to make visits.
If interested in adopting these two, please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org
Please read our adoption policies & procedures, and complete an adoption application.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
