My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sadie is very pretty girl, with the most soulful eyes brown eyes you have ever seen, and the sweetest freckles on her legs.

She's a happy and goofy girl, somewhat clumsy, aways wagging her tail and often has a smile. She is gentle and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She puts up with the tiny residence dogs when they pull her ears, jump up on her or nip her legs. She tries to play with them but they don't reciprocate. She would do well with another dog her size to play with.

She loves to be outside and let her hound nose take over. She enjoys smelling the outdoor smells, perhaps sensing the bunnies or squirrels who visited the yard before her. A fenced in yard would be best should her sense of smell takes over. Sadie is crate trained, but would much prefer being with her person at night.

She loves to give the people she loves her sweet kisses, probably as much as she loves peanut butter and cheese. Sadie is very interested in the senior residence cats.See likes to chase them. I would not recommend a home with cats. She has not had any interaction with children, but with her gentle nature and medium size, I believe a family would be good for her.

Unfortunately, Sadie came into rescue with heartworms. She is under treatment and is in the final stretch of her treatment (may need to be on crate rest until she tests negative). If you are a hound lover, please consider Sadie. You will have a loyal friend forever.

Happy Feet Pet Rescue, located in Lansing, MI, operates as a foster-based rescue, providing our animals with home environments for their well-being. We are dedicated to carefully matching each rescue animal with the most suitable homes. Our adoption process includes an initial adoption phone interview, reference checks, vet checks, a thorough application review, and opportunities for meet and greets.

Please note that we have a policy of not adopting dogs expected to exceed 50lbs to individuals living in apartment or condo settings. We are firmly against declawing cats and only endorse adopting our feline friends as indoor cats.

If you're interested in meeting one of our wonderful pets, we kindly ask you to complete an adoption application. Alternatively, you can explore the rewarding experience of becoming a dog or cat foster parent. This provides an excellent opportunity to interact with various personalities and animals before committing to a long-term relationship.
