My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Olive . . . a fun-loving terrier blend who weighs 26 lbs.  She is about 2 ½ years old and came to us after having to fend for herself outside for many weeks.  Good Samaritans had been feeding her because she could not be caught.  One of our awesome volunteers, through love and patience, was finally able to successfully and safely save this terrified little girl.  And that is where her Poodle and Pooch story began.

General Behavior: This sweet gal craves love and attention and will gladly soak it all up.  Her foster mom says that Olive will sit and watch you from across the room while you are cooking or doing house chores.  Olive does have some anxiety, which can be expected with all the changes in her life.
Likes & Dislikes: Olive scores a perfect ten in the snuggling department.  But more than snuggling, she loves to give kisses (and get them back in return).  She also loves to play with toys, but sometimes gets what is and is NOT a toy mixed up.  For that reason, one should be careful with what is left lying around.  Olive loves to follow you around and she is ready, willing and able to be your sidekick.  Also high on her list of fun things to do . . . sunbathing.
Training: Olive is hard at work in her foster home working on her basic manners.  She does love to jump up on people with excitement, so a potential adopter should plan to work with her on that.  She is housetrained when let out frequently and will even let you know when she needs to go outside.   In fact, this smart little cookie goes pee “on demand”.  Her foster mom taught her “Go pee Olive, go pee” and she does.  She is then rewarded with lots and lots of praise.   Olive walks good on a leash and does well on car rides.
Medical:  We are happy to report that Olive is a healthy gal!  She simply requires her monthly heartworm and flea prevention.
Other Animals: Olive does great with other dogs of all sizes and loves to run around and play with a buddy.  She was initially terrified of cats, but her foster worked on her socialization and now she’s comfortable with them (once she knows them).  A slow introduction to cats would be necessary.
Children: Because Olive is so energetic and active, a home with older (age 8 and above), respectful kids would be best.
Home: Although Olive is small/medium in size, her bark is that of a large dog.  She does like to bark when you leave the house or come back but will settle and can be left alone for several hours.  She would be best suited in a single-family home.  Even better . . . a home with a fenced yard where she can run around and sunbathe.  In her foster home, Olive sleeps in a dog bed at night, but we think she would love sleeping in the “big people” bed too.  She is scared of every stranger, so careful supervision is required when meeting new family members or friends.  Until she overcomes this fear, she will bolt and should be treated as a flight risk.
Grooming:  Olive is very afraid of baths, so may need to go to a groomer for that.  Otherwise, she just needs regular brushing and nails trimmed.
Overall: If you want a sweet gal that will shower you with all her love, Olive is your gal.  All she asks in return is someone to offer her comfort, stability and peace.  In Latin, the name “Olive” means Peace, which is exactly what she deserves.

Are you the one for Olive?  Please visit our website, www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt.  You’ll be put in contact with her foster family if it’s a potential match.  Olive is fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.  Her adoption donation is $375.

We are a foster-based rescue organization and do not have a facility. We have all events posted on our website each month.

More about this rescue

Poodle and Pooch Rescue is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that saves dogs that truly need help. We rescue the "leftovers" from animal control, the dogs nobody wants because they're older or suffer from neglect, abuse or have a medical need. Their "last" day becomes the first day of their new life. We provide the veterinary care they need, a foster family they love and when they're ready, we adopt them to a family who cherishes them. We do not have a physical shelter because every dog lives with one of our foster families. We are all volunteers so your tax-deductible donation goes directly to help the dogs. We have saved over 5,500 dogs since 2008.
