Hi, I'm Arwen and I'm so happy to meet you! I'm a sweetheart through and through- affectionate, playful and goofy, just like a pittie should be! I've got floppy ears and soft eyes, which always seem to be full of joy. My build is solid and my tail never stops wagging. I enjoy being the center of attention, whether it's getting belly rubs or showing off while I play. My new home can have other dogs, people of all ages, but it can't have cats. Cats don't appreciate my zest for life, but you will when you see how eager I am to please. Training should be fun for everyone since I'm so food motivated. 1.
Submit Application

Review our adoption process and complete our new online pet application. If you need assistance, call us or visit our Adoption Center!

2.
Approve Application

If you have had pets in the past 10 years, we will do a vet check and we will check with your landlord or HOA that you can have the pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

Once approved, everyone in your home will need to meet the pet. Also, any existing dog will need to meet a dog you want to adopt.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

We will ask you to sign an adoption contract and pay our adoption fee - a schedule of fees is on our website.

We have one Adoption Center at 1901 W. Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, IL. Please come in to complete our pet application or fill it out online and we will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet our awesome dogs and cats!

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, no-kill animal rescue that was founded in 1972 in the western suburbs of Chicago. WSHS now finds homes for more than 500 dogs and cats each year!

WSHS is 100% funded by individual, corporate, and private foundations donations, and has over 450 active volunteers! WSHS is caring for about 200 animals at any given time.
