My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dog Name: Paisley

Breed: Terrier mix

Sex: F

Age: 5 years

Weight: 15 lbs

Medical needs: Paisley came to us heartworm and lyme positive. She has already started her treatments, and is expected to make a full recovery. She is currently on strict activity restriction, and a few medications. Paisley will need to return to the vet in Bear, DE for back to back appointments on 7/16/24 and 7/17/24. These are full day appointments with drop off at 8am and pick up at 7-7:30pm. Keeping these appointments are a condition of her adoption. She will then continue with some medication, and strict activity restriction for 30 more days. In 6 months she will need to be retested, and it will be covered as long as the adoptor uses Grassroots vet.

Housebroken: Yes. Paisley has not had any accidents at all since she has been with us.

Crate trained: Paisley uses a crate, but she is not the biggest fan. If left alone she will carry on for a while but eventually settles down. She sleeps in her crate over night in her fosters bedroom.

Good in the car: We have not had much experience in the car. However, she does seem to want to roam around a bit before settling. I would recommend a crate, or for her to have someone to sit with other then the driver.

Good on a leash: Paisley is doing fairly well on the leash.

Energy level: Low.

Need a fenced in yard: No, but of course she will need to be leashed. Paisley does have a prey drive and will try to go after rabbits, squirrels, or birds.

Dog Friendly: Yes. Paisley is currently living with 2 other dogs. She does need to be fed separately.

If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive home: No

Cat friendly: Unknown

Kid Friendly: Yes

If yes, what's the youngest age: 8 and up.

Traits that make your foster special: Paisley is a shy, happy, sneaky girl. She will walk over to us wagging her tail then flop over on the floor so you will rub her belly. It does seems she is cautious of men, and will try to avoid them if possible. We are hopeful this is temporary, and something we can work through. When she is not getting loved on she will spend most of her time in the living room on our big dogs fluffy bed. Paisley will also spend her day sitting and staring out of the back door in hopes to spy some rabbits or squirrels. She also loves her food and gets excited at feeding time or if there is food in general! If you leave any food unattended she will quietly try to sneak her way to grab some if you don't catch her and correct her. Overall Paisley is a small, quiet, low energy, couch buddy that wants all the loving you can give.
