Summer, a beautiful 4 year old German shepherd, is the epitome of grace and loyalty. With her striking saddle-back, she gracefully accepts attention wherever she goes. Her gentle nature shines through as she interacts seamlessly with the six other canine companions in her foster home, a testament to her calm and friendly disposition.
Whether she's perched beneath a towering tree, intently observing the scurrying squirrels above, or simply resting peacefully by your chair, Summer radiates a sense of tranquility that is truly soothing.
Her enthusiasm for car rides is palpable, as she eagerly bounds into the vehicle, her tongue lolling happily as the world rushes by. And at the end of each day, there is no greater comfort than having Summer curl up faithfully at your bedside, her warm presence a constant reminder of the unbreakable bond you share.
This devoted companion is the embodiment of everything that makes the German shepherd breed so beloved - unwavering loyalty, affectionate companionship, and a captivating natural beauty that never fails to enchant all who cross her path.

More about this shelter
The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
