My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT

Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes, dog saavy cats
Good with kids: Unknown, likely yes
Crate trained: Working on it
House Trained: Yes

Grover is a lovable boy who thrives in the company of other dogs. He's a chameleon, easily adapting his play style to match those around him. With calmer dogs, he enjoys lounging on the floor with a bone or stuffed toy, while with more energetic dogs, he's all about wrestling and zoomies. He seeks praise from his humans, eager to be recognized as a "good dog." He has learned to be cautious around cats after encountering some that were less than friendly in his foster home. Grover would avoid them if they hissed, growled, or swatted at him, patiently waiting until they were out of sight. While he hasn't been observed with children, Grover's gentle nature suggests he'd likely be great with them, enjoying their attention and playfulness as a perfect companion. He's house trained and does well on a consistent schedule. Grover isn't fond of being crated with the door locked and may try to escape by chewing or pushing against it. He prefers having his foster nearby and willingly enters the crate on his own terms when the door is open, often putting himself to bed. On walks, Grover tends to zigzag and needs time to acclimate to his surroundings, but he corrects easily with guidance. He appreciates reassurance when walking without another dog to follow.

Grover is a wonderful companion who thrives on love and companionship, ready to bring joy to a household that will give him all the love.

More about this rescue

Our mission at Last Hope K9 Rescue is to save every possible dog we can from being euthanized within high-volume kill shelters throughout the U.S.

As the literal “last hope” of nearly every animal we serve, we work tirelessly to place each one within a stable, loving environment that can act as either their forever home, or the gateway to their forever home. We also strive to ensure that all of our adoptions and foster placements are the optimal fit for everyone involved, including our dogs. This leads to our second goal: enriching human lives through canine companionship. To us, you can’t have one without the other.

Lastly, we promote animal welfare by lobbying important initiatives that both protect and give voice to the voiceless. By fostering an environment of collaboration with other organizations that share our goals, and working together instead of in competition, we find that we accomplish more.
