My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the adorable and sweet, fluffy angel named Indie.

Indie is a cuddle monster. She melts into pats and positive reassurance. She is very nervous about new things and just wants to run and hide when overwhelmed. She is looking for her people who will tell her it is okay and that she is so so good when a scary car goes by-could this be you?

Indie is new to leash walking and finds slippery floors suspicious. She is looking for a home who can use all the positive Animal Kind dog training methods to help her gain confidence and a sense of safety.

Her ideal home would be in a quieter neighbourhood. The sound of a motorcycle driving by is still a bit too overwhelming at this time. She came in with a very dense and matted hair coat- she would love someone in her life who can help maintain her luscious locks.

This kind and sensitive soul loves being patted and having calm people to share her space. She has done buddy walks with other dogs at the SPCA-but in general isn't very interested in dogs. She has lived with other dogs and is dog-social but we feel she would do well as a solo doggo as well.

If you are ready to be that safe space/haven for this sensitive teddy-bear- please consider putting in an application for Indie. She is so charming and loving-we cannot wait to see her grow into a confident loveable floof she so wants to be!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
