Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Sherlock, our wonderful short legged, 5 year old Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen. Sherlock is an easy and awesome dog. He is friendly with dogs, cats, and all people. Already neutered, he weighs 52 pounds and exudes joy everywhere he goes. He’s very easy to walk, and he will just lay down if you stop to talk to someone. He is happy to meet every person who wants to say hello.
Crate trained and potty trained, Sherlock loves the car and is a great copilot. He is a go anywhere dog. He’s the dog you take to a coffee shop, out to dinner, or the farmers market. Every time his foster mommy takes him out, people are drawn to stop and meet this smiling, stubby legged boy trotting by. And don’t let his grey hair fool you; he’s got great energy. Those gray hairs are a trademark characteristic of the Irish wolfhound.
Sherlock is currently living with a mastiff and a cat and doing wonderful. He meets dogs in the neighborhood nicely. He also attends a professional group dog pack walk where he walks and mingles with about 50 dogs. At first he felt overwhelmed with big dogs who come on strong, but he’s now doing so well due to his pack walks.
We think Sherlock can fit into many homes, and he might even be a great therapy dog, as he will lay next to anyone, calmly conforming next to them to soak up all their love and give love back. Sherlock is sure to steal your heart.
Because Sherlock is very social, we are looking for a home that has another dog to keep Sherlock company. We believe Sherlock would thrive with canine companionship.
