Everybody gather round, it`s an extremely rare sighting of...Jarbarkus?! This handsome bear-like Rottie is nothing but a gentle giant. He is absolutely a sight to see, with long(ish) multiple coated fur, and those big brown eyes! Jarbarkus loves to play, but he can definitely tone it down to match the setting he`s in. His favorite game so far has been fetch with a squeaky toy, to be exact. Another thing Jarbarkus loves is butt scratches! His body completely loosens up and he wiggles into you to receive more. This affectionate boy is very easy to please--between the butt scratches and chin scratches, we don`t know which one he likes more! This Rotty can hang with the best of his four legged pals, he has become a prominent member for playgroups here at the shelter! Jarbarkus would best suit an adult only home with parents that understand his needs as a Rottweiler. On this next tour stop, we will answer any questions you have about Jarbarkus. Adoption donations include first shots, first worming, microchip, spay or neuter, complimentary vet visit with a partner vet clinic, a personalized name tag and a wonderful pet.

The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.
For over fifty years, our organization has helped tens of thousands of animals. We offer extensive outreach programs including humane education, and community outreach events. We also operate a resale shop located in Steger, Illinois that promotes our organization, our animals and provide much needed income to support our humane work.
