My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Calling all bird dog lovers!!

This beautiful, scruffy girl is Summer, a 4 year old German Wirehaired Pointer. GWP's are high energy bird dogs with a high prey drive and a high desire to please. They have very similar personalities and temperaments to their cousin, the German Shorthaired Pointer, but they do require more grooming due to their wiry fur.

Summer is very dog friendly and has played well with all of the dogs she's met, and she would be fine in a home with or without other dogs. She does have the natural bird dog prey drive and we would not recommend her go to a home with cats or other small animals. She walks well on a leash (unless she sees donkeys ). She's good with kids and wouldn't mind having a kid to run around with. She's both housetrained and crate trained does very well in her crate when alone. We would like her to go to an adopter who has experience with Pointers, Weimaraners or other similar high energy breeds.

Summer is microchipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccines. She is fostered in Parrish, Florida and her adoption fee is $400. If you are interested in adding this sweet, scruffy girl to your family please complete an adoption application at the link below or email us at info@love4pawsfl.org for more info!

More about this rescue

We are a non-breed specific dog rescue group, although we do tend to take in mostly large and extra-large breeds, and especially those in the hunting / sporting groups.

Love for Paws exists to protect and advocate for dogs in our community through responsible adoption, the donation of supplies and veterinary care to those in need, by assisting in the effort to limit the overpopulation of these animals and by promoting kindness and healthy opportunity for life.
