Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
’m Boomer and I am American Staffordshire and Pit Bull Terrier mix and just as handsome as they come.
I am 2 years old and called a “Pocket Pittie” because I only weigh 47lbs. I am just perfect to do everything with, go hiking, walking, maybe even running if you teach me once I learn to run alongside you, and gosh, I would love to explore the water everywhere because that is just so much fun. I get really excited and jumpy when meeting new people and dogs so I am best with older kids. I love to play with other dogs of all sizes but dogs my own size are best. I have heard some say I am “prey driven” when talking about cats and squirrels. I don’t know what it means I just know I don’t like cats.
My foster mom and I have trained hard. Besides being crate trained and house broken, I know how to sit, go in my crate, come out, wait and stay (for just a few seconds because I get so excited), look at me, come here (while in the yard or in the house). I learn quickly because I like yummy treats and even more, squeaky toys. I am already micro-chipped , lost my jewels (whatever that means) and got all my vaccines and on heartworm, flea and tick preventives. Foster mom says whoever is lucky enough to bring me home is going to love me to pieces because I am so handsome and such a good boy.

More about this rescue
So MD Animal Rescue is an organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and finds homes for abandoned, injured, sick, abused, and neglected shelter and stray dogs. Once a dog is rescued they are place with us or with a foster family where they receive any medical care and rehabilitation needed to get them ready for adoption. After that, we go to work networking the dogs through various outlets to find them their forever family.
Our organization is based on the premise that all dogs deserve a forever, loving home and that we are here to help them do that.
We also believe that sometimes pet owners fall on hard times and need help temporarily to keep from having to give up their pet. In these cases, we do what we can to help these pet owners keep their pets by providing food and other supplies or financial assistance for needed vet care.
We also strongly advocate for spay/neuter and proper animal care. We provide information to the community about spay/neuter assistance programs, financial aid programs to help with expenses for pets during unexpected illness, information about heartworm prevention and treatment, contact information for local wildlife rescues, and any other information that is needed.
I first started out by volunteering at my local humane society after adopting my first shelter dog in 1990 Through the adoption process I learned how animal shelters work and the struggles they encounter. I have always loved animals, especially dogs, and wanted to help. After many, many years of volunteering and being a pet owner, in 2014, I was finally in a position to start my own rescue.
Our mission is to continue providing all of these services to save the lives of as many dogs as possible until, hopefully, one day, we won't have to.
