Everything tiny 2 year old momma Vaquita does is with big energy. When she looks in a mirror, she must see a panther! That’s a big part of the charm of this delightful little lady who transported downstate from our sister shelter in Glen Falls when she needed our help readying her and her kittens for adoption. She was a devoted momma to those babies, and has now taken back her life, leading her friends with her new found confidence. It wasn’t that long ago she was the one who needed coaxing to join the fun; now she’s the star of our treat parties and chases toys with a new found joy we love to see. What a tiny inspiration! Vaquita brings so much humor mixed with tenderness to any room she enters, and she will definitely add a loving spark to her first real home. An experienced adopter in a calm home with children over 12 years old is in for the feline love affair of their life, with Vaquita feeling very lucky to not have to be in charge anymore.

When you come down to NSALA an associate will help you figure out what kind of animal will do best in your situation. At that point they will take out the animals you are interested in so that you may get to know them. You will have plenty of time to play and interact with your new friend in our family friendly areas designated for that purpose. When you decide you want to adopt, an associate will help you fill out an application.

Our adoption fees are as follows:
Puppies (up to 6 months) $350
Adult Dogs (over 6 months) $100
Puppy Mill Rescues $250
Small Breed & Pure Breeds (over 6 months) $250
Kittens (up to 6 months) $100
Double Kittens $150
Adult Cats (over 6 months) $50
Double Adult Cats $75

Where applicable, a $50 Spay/Neuter deposit is required for kittens, $75 for puppies.

Our Adoption Center, is open every Thursday-Sunday 12pm-8pm. On average, our shelter is home to 350 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. Behind the scenes, the Adoption Center contains a nursery area, medical examination room and a grooming area where new admissions are health checked, vaccinated, bathed and groomed.

Visitors are reminded that adoption is a lifelong commitment. After selecting a pet, each potential adopter is thoroughly screened, ensuring each adopter recognizes the life-changing commitment a new pet can be. To date, over 1,000,000 pet owners have met our high standards and adopted a pet from North Shore Animal League America.
