My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Lucy. I was about two-three weeks old when I found myself all alone in someone’s yard. I guess I was at the right place at the right time because a nice man found me just as he was taking a Mama cat and her two kittens to SBACC. He scooped me up and gave me to the Mama cat, and she accepted me and let me nurse as if I were her own kitten. I suddenly had two brothers and a new Mama. We all went to a foster home together, and Mama nursed us until we were big enough to eat on our own. I started out very shy and scared and hid under the bed whenever my foster Mom came into the room. Slowly, I came out, but I was still afraid to be touched. My foster Mom had lots of patience and gave me lots of time and love, along with delicious food, warm beds, and tons of toys. The more I played, the more confident I became, and I gradually felt safe and loved. My foster mom says that I have come so far and that I get less shy every day. She says that I am sweet, gentle, and very curious. I am now ready for my forever home, and I would love to go home with another kitten or young ca

Dogs $150, Puppies under 6 months $225
Cats $75 over 5 years
Cats between 6 months-5 years $100

Dog adoptions include a written application and an on site interview. All family members, including other resident dogs, must meet the new dog.

The adoption process for cats and kittens includes:
A detailed application.
An interview with the potential adopter(s).
And a home visit, in some circumstances.

To ensure the best possible match for our cats and kittens, all applications are reviewed by our adoption committee and determination can take up to 48 hours.

We are an all-volunteer, no-kill, non-profit animal shelter formed in 1986 to find homes for the dogs, cats lost within our city limits. We are a California non-profit 501-C3 corporation # 33-0192138 so all donations are tax-deductible.
