For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
This helps Citizens for Animal Welfare with pet care costs.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Annie was born five months ago when her mother was being fed by a few neighbors and had not been spayed. (Mom has since been rescued, tested negative for FIV/Leuk. by our vet, and been spayed.) Annie has been given both her 5-way kitten vaccines and she is a healthy, very sweet, playful kitten! She is a gorgeous tan with darker brown stripes and a silver belly! Annie has big, beautiful light green eyes! She enjoys playing with her siblings and all the other cats/kittens in our rescue. If you are interested in this sweet and fun kitten, please let us know, and we will send an application for adoption to your email. Arrangements can also be made for a meet and greet visit with her at her foster's home in Statesville. We offer a free 3 day trial adoption. Thank you for your interest in adopting a truly rescued pet! If you have any specific questions about Annie, please send us an email at citizens4animals@yahoo.com

We ask all potential adopters to fill out an application for adoption which is sent to them as soon as an inquiry is received. The application is reviewed, and the applicant's vet reference is checked by phone. If the applicant does not have a good vet record, the application is denied. If the applicant is renting a home, we ask for his landlord's name and phone # and check to make certain the applicant is allowed to have a pet. If there are any concerns regarding the application, we bring them to the applicant's attention and ask for clarification. This is done before the applicant meets the pet. We then set up a meeting at a mutually convenient time and place. If the applicant wants the pet, we ask for a check made payable to CFAW at the time the applicant takes the pet. The adoption donation is held for 3-5 days during which the potential adopter can decide whether (or not) he wants to permanently adopt the pet. If he decides not to adopt and returns the pet to us, his check is returned at that time. There is also a Pet Adoption Contract which basically states that the adopter will take good care of the pet. This is signed by both parties.
