My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Playful, smart, and well trained - that is Rolo!

Rolo is the best of both worlds- adventurous and loving. He is playful, loves his tennis ball toys and sniffing new areas, chomping on a chew toy, and getting walks. His temperament is well developed and balanced at 3 years old though. Just as much as Rolo loves his walk time, he also loves his down time - naps on the couch with you, entertaining himself with a toy, or getting cuddles and affection from his volunteer and staff friends!

When it comes to training, we think Rolo will do great learning more commands in his forever home. For starters, he is already house trained as he frequently goes to the bathroom in designated spots at the shelter. He can sit on command for treats (see his video!), and is leash trained, as he walks very calm and loose on leash without the need to pull or redirect him.

With Rolo`s balanced temperament, medium energy, and love for affection, we know that he is going to make an amazing dog to a lucky family! With Rolo, you are going to have a playful friend for life and a coach potato bestie! Come in to AAC today and ask to meet this sweet guy to start your forever journey together!

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Go meet their pets

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
