My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mazie is a beautiful one-year old female (possible) Harlequin Great Dane/Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on June 18, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found her on State Route 339 in the Vincent Ohio area. Mazie was accompanied by Bosco (a handsome Rottweiler mix). Neither Mazie nor Bosco were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped.

Mazie has a white short smooth coat with black patches, a long tail, and an adorable face with blue eyes, a pink/black nose, and large semi-erect ears .

Mazie weighs 55 lbs.

These photos were taken on June 21, 2024 when Mazie was in a covered/shaded outdoor kennel adjacent to her companion (Bosco). The steamy hot/humid weather in the mid-Ohio Valley this week put a damper on taking pictures in our usual location (a grassy area in direct sunshine). Our photographer saw an opportunity to snap some photos of Mazie and swung into action with "Plan B". Where there's a will, there's a way and sometimes you just have to do whatever it takes to get the job done (smile).
Mazie wasn't too sure about the paparazzi lurking around her kennel but 'smiled' for the camera to humor that crazy lady. Not the most flattering 'glamour shots' but Mazie's beauty still can be seen.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Mazie was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Mazie has not been reclaimed as of June 22nd.

Since Mazie was not reclaimed, she went home with a foster family on July 2, 2024 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed.

Unfortunately, Mazie came back to our shelter on July 3rd since she didn't seem to a good fit for their home. For some reason, Mazie doesn't appear to like men and exhibited some undesirable behavior toward a male household member during the short time she spent in the foster home.

Update: Mazie went home with a foster family on August 1, 2024 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed.

Mazie was spayed on August 5, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine.
