My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi I’m Pepper Tux, a National Kennel Club registered Boston Terrier. I’m nine years old, but don’t be fooled by my age. I’m full of Boston Terrier energy and will play Fetch all day with you. ♥

I would love to have a fenced yard where I can play fetch to my heart’s content.

I act more like a young adult than a mature Boston.

I was surrendered to the rescue because after I lost the vision in my right eye, I began to get  startled if approached from that side and one of the family members didn't trust me because they had a bad experience with a dog years ago (not me!).. Now that I am in a far more quiet Foster home I’ve been very energetic and  I've been a good boy.

Because I am VERY ball focused and only have one eye I would do best in a home without small children.

I love to give kisses and like many of my Boston cousins I have that famous snore.

Can I follow you around the house?

I will be right there if you’re having a snack.  I can be your Best snack buddy and sit with you thumping for snacks.

I just love a good snooze in the sunshine.

My foster mom says I invented a new game called roll your toy under the couch.  I rollz it under the couch and then runz in back of the couch to get my toy.

I lies on my back to chew on my toy for a bit, and then start all over with rolling it under the couch.

I make my fosters laugh

The Basics
Age: 9
Weight: 25
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Microchipped: Yes
Vaccines Up-to-Date: Yes
On Heartworm Prevention: Yes

Medical: Left eye removed in April 2024. Ulcer in right eye which has healed. The pressure in
the right eye is fine but has daily eye drops to help prevent glaucoma. Pepper is a very good boy about putting the drops in his eye.

Likes/Dislikes
Toys: Looooooves to play fetch with bouncy balls and throw sticks. Will play fetch all day long.
Other Animals: Fine with other dogs as long as they aren’t possessive about toys. With only
one eye he often bumps into other dogs. Cats unknown.
People/Kids: Good with new people as long as they introduce themselves.. No small children
due to  reduced vision
Car Rides: OK
Separation: No issues

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption fee is generally based on the dog's age and provides for neutering or spaying, all required shots, heartworm testing (we endorse "the new moxie-doxy" treatment for heart worms).

It is our expectation & a requirement that heartworm preventative be continued as well as any required vet visits after the pet is adopted.

If for some reason a match isn't made the first time around and you are approved, we will keep your application on file for the next opportunity to arise. Our primary goal is to place a dog in the most suitable environment, based on the animal's individual needs and its temperament. The commitment is lifelong and the Boston's interests are always foremost.

More about this rescue

All breeds have their own particular needs and rescued pets often have special requirements as well, very often in want of medical care, often lacking nourishment and kindness, and often expensive to rehabilitate.

Because we have had Boston Terriers for many years, we are very familiar with their habits, peculiarities and their special needs.

We operate across the southeast under the auspices of the Boston Terrier Rescue Network. We share information and resources in all of the USA with affiliated Boston Rescues.
