My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I’m Red. I’m a sweet girl who was found wandering a neighborhood with my sister, Robyn, and I’m currently looking for my forever home! Until then, I’m spending my days playing and napping with my wonderful foster family! They are comprised of teenagers, small children, two other dogs and three cats. My sister Robyn (also adoptable) is also here. I love every person I have met so far, love playing with the other dogs, and I’m curious about the cats, but keep my distance (maybe a sniff now and then).

I’ve only had one accident in the house on the first day and not another one since then. I’m a pro at using the doggy door. At night or if you have to leave for a bit, I sleep nicely in my crate, but I would happily sleep with you or the kids if you let me. The only time I’ve barked is when I am “talking” to my human family because I want to play. I’m still working on sit…but I sure love the treats when we practice. And my Foster Mom is making sure I have “soft mouth” when taking food or snacks from hands. My next big area to practice is walking on a leash. I’m still not too sure about that…but I hear there will be more treats.

If you’re looking for a companion to be by your side whether sitting on the patio, watching tv, or even laying in the bathroom while you shower, I’m your girl.

6/26/24 Update: Red is still such a well behaved dog. Uses the dog door consistently, doing much better with sit and moving onto stay, happy and playful all the time….and we had a big test yesterday when one of my littles left the front door open and Red and her sister Robyn got out…they never left the front yard! Yay! And came right back inside when we called them. They sure do love their people and having a home.

My adoption fee is $200 locally in Houston, TX or I can be transported out of state for $550 (includes travel fee and health certificate).

It includes all my vaccines, spay/neuter, and microchip. Fill out an app at: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=SQYPSGVQ

Additional adoption info

With an approved application, applicants are considered for the pet they have applied for. Our goal is to make the best match for both the adopting family and the pet. Applications are NOT considered on a first come first served basis. Following an initial meet and great, potential adopters must pass a home inspection and sleepovers are strongly encouraged to ensure a perfect fit. Upon approval, the adoptive family is required to pay a fee and sign an adoption agreement. Fees are $200 for a puppy under a year and $150 for adults and include spay/neuter, current vaccines, microchip and many wonderful years of companionship.
