More about this rescue

Hi, I’m Shawna Kluge. I started doing small-scale animal rescue through Facebook lost-and-found pet pages soon after moving to Grant County in 2017. When the pandemic hit I realized there were many pet owners in our community struggling to get by. So when I received my pandemic stimulus check I decided to buy 100 pounds of dog and cat food to distribute to those pet owners in need. Thus, The Rock Bottom Rocker Pet Pantry was born.
In the early days it was just me, distributing pet food and some supplies to those in dire need. We continue this portion of our mission to this day.

I soon found myself receiving many calls about stray, abandoned, and injured animals. Thanks to some small donations I was able to rescue and care for a few animals at a time. But the need continued to outpace my capacity. So with the help of several community members, we were able to secure a larger area in rural Soap Lake and began housing and caring for dozens of animals.

In October 2022 we officially became a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Today we continue to care for dozens of animals at our facility – mostly dogs and cats, but also a few farm animals and some birds. We are also responsible for a number of animals in the care of our foster network.
