Here's what the humans have to say about me:
FOREST is a magnificent SMOKE SIBERIAN with one yellow eye. He is 1 year old, neutered, 4-paw declawed, up to date on vaccinations, and FIV/FeLV negative. He weighs around 9 lbs.
Forest came into our rescue when his owner could no longer take care of him. He had to have his right eye removed due to a chronic eye issue. His foster mom doesn’t think that it hurts this handsome cat’s look one bit - it makes him look like an adorable, super fluffy Pirate kitty.
Speaking of super fluffy, Forest came in with some tight mats that a skilled groomer with the help of foster mom holding him was able to remove. While this was obviously not enjoyable for this little fur treasure, he was quite patient during the entire process - well, he did get away a couple of times, but his foster mom was able to corral him and now he is free of mats.
Forest’s foster mom is completely enamored with this sweet, soft and gentle boy. There is not a lot in life that is more adorable and endearing than being greeted by a fluffy kitty who basically does somersaults when his foster mom bends down to brush him - oh does he love to be brushed! And since he really does need to be brushed on a daily basis, preferably a couple of times a day, both Forest and foster mom are requesting a home where there is a dedicated human who has the time, skill, and proper tools to provide him with that basic necessity.
Since Forest is a Siberian cat, we are anticipating that some applications will come in for him from people who have read that Siberian cats are hypoallergenic. No breed is actually hypoallergenic. People are most commonly allergic to the Fel d 1 protein which is found in cat saliva. As all cats make saliva, all cats can cause an allergic reaction. So please be aware that we do not claim that any of our rescue cats are hypoallergenic, including Forest.
Forest currently does not appear to be a play monster, though that may change with time. He is more of a laid back kitty who loves to perch on the tall cat tree or on the window ledge. Forest has lived with other cats before and we were told he enjoys their company, as long as the cat is not too domineering, and of course with proper and slow introductions. Because of the fact that he is declawed, which leaves him somewhat defenseless, we feel he will do better in a home that doesn't have any dogs. Older, respectful children should be fine for him.
Forest is currently only eating wet food which he loves and it is healthier for him because it provides proper hydration for his urinary tract and will also help keep his coat soft and silky. This article explains very well why wet food is so important for our feline companions: www.catinfo.org. Therefore, we would like to find him a home that will continue to offer it. He is using his litter box perfectly.
