My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Tiggy! I am such a well-behaved girl!  I am also a high energy, sporting breed. However, I am great at entertaining myself and burning off my energy. I just need a large backyard with plenty of trees for shade and squirrel watching! Don't let my age fool you; English Setters don't slow down until they are at least 10 years old and we tend to live long lives. I do need a tall, secure fence, at least 6 feet tall, as English Setters have a very high prey drive. I was bred to be a bird dog, so I really prefer to spend most of my day in the backyard, so a dog door would be great!  A human who is home much of the time to make sure I come inside and rest, espeically when it is hot outside is a must. In the evenings I love to cuddle up with my human while they watch TV.  I do okay in a crate for short periods, but I really don't need to be crated; I am a good girl inside the house. I don't chew, I don't jump on people, and I am pretty happy; my tail wags constantly.  I would love an adopter who doesn't mind my high energy and prey drive.  Also, I am great in the car and would love to join you anywhere you go!
I live with 2 other dogs in my foster home; I mostly ignore them and am respectful of their place in the pet hierarchy.  I also live with 2 teenagers.  Please submit and application https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=2087398...

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Thank you for adopting and not buying!!! Every week hundreds of highly adoptabledogs are put to death by local shelters. Most people would be amazed at the purebred and beautiful dogs available, if they walked into their neighborhood shelter.

Rescue organizations, like mine, work hard to save as many as we possibly can but is a never ending process with breeders and Puppy Mills selling unhealthy animals to the public. If you EVER saw a puppy mill you would NEVER buy again!

All of my dogs are neutered or spayed, vet checked, completely vaccinated, wormed, groomed and checked for heart worms. They are all are current on Heart worm medicine, flea, and tick medications. They are all microchipped as well.

Adoption fee is $300 to $350 (older "friends' can be less, please inquire. Puppies are $350 - Besides fully vetting all dogs, some of of the dogs I rescue, 1 in 5 I rescue have heart worms which is very expensive to treat. I also take in dogs who need surgeries and are close to death.

More about this rescue

About us: Cody was the first pet I owned as an adult. He was a Shih Tzu that I bought unknowingly, from a Puppy Mill. He fought for his life and barely survived, suffering for the first few months of his life. From then on I was stirred by a ferocious passion to save as many dogs as I could through networking with other rescue groups and saving the ones I could off of cold streets and unwanted in shelters. Cody did not live a very long life due to a weakened body, but I was able to love on him for eight good years! He will always be loved and forever remembered. With over 400 dogs rescued so far, we ARE making a difference!!
Thank you for visiting and considering a rescue........................
