My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, my name is Emmy! Everyone thinks I am around a year old. I am a sweet, fun loving girl, despite my start on this journey. I was found as a stray here in Colorado Springs (along with my suspected brother). The Good Samaritan who found me brought me into the Humane Society here where I was put on a stray hold. Unfortunately, no one came to claim me. I was really scared at the shelter. Because of this, the people there described me as aggressive and said I would have to be behaviorally euthanized. Luckily, the person who brought me in was notified of this, and she made a Facebook plea. Next thing I know, my foster mom is driving me home to see how I do and work with any necessary behavior modifications.

As it turns out, none of their judgements about me were true! I am super loving and always want pets and to give kisses. Sometimes a stranger may make me nervous, but I usually just bark a time or two and am easily called back. I love my doggy siblings in my foster home! We love to rough house in the backyard. I can definitely be vocal and a little rough when playing, so it’s helpful to have siblings my size or bigger (I do have two smaller friends in my foster family that I do okay with though). There are no cats or kids in my home, so we’re not sure how I am with those, but I have approached a few kids at the park and given them kisses on the hand.

I am already doing super well at crate training and am learning some other basic obedience tricks! My foster mom says I’m super food-motivated and took to clicker training really fast! I’m super high energy and so require a fair amount of daily exercise and enrichment. Right now we go on long walks and trips to the park daily. And, while my foster mom is at work, we all have puzzles, lick mats, and treat dispensing toys. I really enjoy these!

Thank you for reading my bio and I can wait to meet you!

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c)(3) not for profit dog rescue based in Colorado Springs, CO. Our goal is to rescue dogs from high kill shelters in other states and get them adopted into forever homes all along the Front Range and Pikes Peak Region. We are brand new, established in April 2019, and we are an all volunteer organization. We are always in need of donations, either money, much needed dog items like dog beds, kennels, leashes, etc, and loving foster homes. If you can't provide any of these things, we are always in need of people that can help out at events and transport when the dogs come in. We look forward to hearing from you!!
