My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone, my name is Valen. My name means "Strong, Healthy". My life has had a bit of a struggle since I was found dumped at a local lake. At ten weeks old, I was dumped in some underbrush. My muzzle was bleeding and oozing. It was so painful. I was dumped because I had a rare Autoimmune disease called "Puppy Strangles," and I was skinny, wormy, and full of fleas and ticks. No one knows where I came from. What my parents looked like. All we all know is what my foster mom has learned. She always tells me how awesome of a fellow I am; if she didn't have so many in her pack, she would keep me. My foster mom has had two other puppies with Puppy Strangles, and she made them healthy, too. I am almost ready to leave my foster home for my furever home. She has taught me to sit, house trained, leash trained, and dog/ cat social etiquette. I love people and children. I am amazing, smart, and loads of fun. I am ready to head to you, my furever home. Please request a application (alittlelonger2home@gmail.com) and submit a deposit $200 (refundable). Additional adoption info

We are very careful with our adoptions for these orphans are in our homes. They are family to us. If it does not feel right, there is probably a reason. The adoption is cancelled.

Go meet their pets

The ladies with FOHA, RI (Sandra Lamb) have invited our orphans to participate in adoption events.

More about this rescue

My name is Carla Carlton. We (my husband and I) are retired militay. He served in the Air Force for 25 years. We have always done comunity service. So, when we got ready to retire, we found a place we wanted to live and bought a home. Well, the town we lived in has/had a high kill shelter. This broke our hearts.
Around this same time, I met a lady who fostered for Friends of Homeless Animals, RI. One day I got a call from FOHA there was a poodle in our shelter and he was on the short list. I went and pulled him. Roie (FOHA), helped set me up to foster and list our orphans to adopt with families who really wanted them. I am not sure how long ago it was, 16-18 years, I think. The rest is history. Through them and Mountain Pet Rescue, CO (and a few others in CO, UT, IA, IL, OR, CA, MS...), we have placed over 2500 dogs/ puppies and cats.
