HEADLINER : Kimber AKA Kimi
HISTORY : Kimber is a beautiful one year old great dane. She came to MTM with her brother, Barret, after they were abandoned by their owners. They were both underweight, but still so sweet and trusting. Barrett has been adopted, and now it's Kimber’s turn to find her forever family.
PERSONALITY : Kimber is a big girl with a big heart. She will make you melt within the first few minutes of meeting her. She enjoys her chew toys and running around the yard, wrestling her foster brother. Kimber is very food motivated and will steal food, even if you are looking at her. She will steal other animals' food in the house as well so always feed in separate areas. She loves walks, but gets excited when she sees people or dogs. Her foster parents are working on leash manners and counter surfing. She is just a big goofy girl with a mild energy level for a one year old. You can find Kimber most of the time on the couch chewing on an antler. Kimber loves snuggling up with her humans and will want to be around them all the time. Sometimes, she gets a little carried away while playing with her foster brother, but they are easily separated. She has never been left alone, so being in a home with another dog is best.
FAVORITE ACTIVITIES : Kimber loves cuddling on the couch with her humans and just being wherever hey are. She enjoys walks and playing in the backyard with her foster brother. Kimber loves to chew on toys and yes, will swallow the pieces she breaks off. She enjoys meeting new people and dogs as long as they are friendly. Kimber loves to eat! She will prance to her bowl when she sees her food coming. It's her favorite time of the day.
MEDICAL ISSUE S: Kimber has recently had TPLO surgery on her right knee. She needs to stay on a joint supplement due to having arthritis at an early age.
WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME : Kimber would do best in a home with a canine companion due to her never being left alone. Also an owner that is not gone most of the day, that will give her the love and patience she deserves. She is a little shy with new things such as the vacuum. Also fireworks and loud noises scare her. She is now crate trained, but has separation anxiety. She is fine in her crate as long as her foster brother is in the same room. If not, she will cry and try to break out. She would do well with older children because of how clumsy, strong, and big she is. She has lived with cats, but will chase and bark at them. She is not the brightest crayon in the box, so someone with patience is a must. She is just a silly love bug who deserves all the love in the world.
