My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Every fairy tale has a dark part which makes the ending seem brighter, right? Well, those Grimm brothers should have met Miss Nala. Her story deserves a fairy tale all its own. She is a beautiful Golden/Chow Mix who, like many heroines, has had some bumps in her life. Her first owner was deployed overseas when she was eight years old. NCHS took her in and helped her find people to call her own. In less than a year their housing situation changed, and Nala found herself back with us.

Nala is a gorgeous girl with a big personality. Typical of a Chow, she chooses her person but typical of a Golden Retriever, she loves that person unconditionally and wants nothing more than to snuggle with them. She would love a home where she can relax by her owner’s feet all day long and just keep you company. She is well-behaved around cats but prefers to be the only dog in your life. Nala is independent and values her own space. She's a senior gal with a few aches and pains and like many of us, can be moody sometimes. She will need a little help understanding that you are not trying to steal her food. Nala is looking for a quiet place to share her golden years. Her perfect family would have a fenced yard and, due to her size and independent nature, she'd do better with a family with older children or adults.

If you would like to foster or adopt this damsel in distress and give her fairy tale the happy ending it deserves, please complete an application.

More about this rescue

The Newnan-Coweta Humane Society has a dedication and passion to rescue shelter pets located at local kill shelters. Those rescued pets are vetted and vaccinated then placed in our foster care program where they are socialized with our own pets, taught basic manners (dogs/puppies), start crate-training method (dogs/puppies)and in short, get them ready for their forever home. They stay in our foster care system until their forever homes are found. The volunteers of NCHS are dedicated to rescuing homeless pets because there are so many pets in kill shelters that are wonderful, loving pets. They are euthanized simply because they do not have homes.
