My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I'm Trix - that's right, like the cereal. I came to Minnesota with my mom and 9 cereal-named siblings in June. Alabama didn't treat us very well and we were so thankful to make our way to Minnesota. We all lived together until us pups were old enough to find families of our own. While I wait for mine, it's time for me to start learning life as an independent girl. I now live with two adults and a senior dog and am loving all the attention they give me!

Despite this transition being my first time away from my siblings, I'm rocking it if I do say so myself. My fosters say I'm perfectly potty trained (I don't know why they think this is such a big deal - dog jobs just belong outside, right?). It only took me a couple tries to get comfortable in my crate. I hang out in there when my fosters leave and sleep there at night, though I LOVE the times just before bed and right away in the morning when I get to snuggle in their bed with them. If they are staying up too late, I even put myself to bed sometimes and patiently wait for my treats. During the day, I entertain myself with toys while my fosters work. I especially like sneaking into my crate to steal all the bones and toys out of it - those ones just taste better! I am still getting used to meeting new dogs now that I'm living the single life. I'm still little and they scare me if they "come in too hot." Slow intros help me get comfortable when making new dog friends. Once we have each other figured out, I'll be their best friend! The senior dog I live with doesn't usually like puppies, but she doesn't mind me because I have good manners. I don't get in her face, but really like following her and learning how to dog by doing whatever she does. Sometimes I even sneak a snuggle on her 🙂

My fosters say I'm medium energy, snuggly, silly, and that they would likely foster more puppies my age if they were all as good as I am. You might think Trix are for kids (and I certainly am), but meet me and you'll see that I'm definitely for everyone!

All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.

Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.

More about this rescue

The mission of Warrior Dog Rescue is to save the dogs that are homeless, left abandoned in shelters, are surrendered by their owners, those that are being abused and neglected, and those that are left wandering. We are committed to providing them the medical care they need, helping them to overcome their past by providing them loving, educated foster homes, finding them their perfect forever home by means of a thorough adoption process, and guiding them on their journey into their new life. They all deserve a “good dog life… every single one of them.”

Warrior Dog Rescue will be a model rescue by partnering with overcrowded shelters that need to make room for more abandoned dogs. We will continue to educate others about responsible dog ownership in regards to safety, spay/neuter, nutrition, obedience, socializing, abuse, and neglect. We acknowledge that we will have a role in this industry to take the lead on providing awareness to others in the community and across the country. Every dog will know what it feels like to be loved till the end of their life.
