Sassafras is a beautiful, young, playful calico. She is a five year old (born 11/4/2018) very sweet petite girl who loves to greet people when they visit. She has a cute nickname of Sassy.

She is very much a lap cat and loves to sit on or with her person as much as she can. She would enjoy sleeping with you as well if you are a sound enough sleeper that her playfulness doesn’t bother you. She is a master “biscuit maker” and loves to knead on a plush pet bed.

Sassafras is very social and people oriented. She is good with school-aged children but is not good with infants or toddlers. Although she loves people, she is not a fan of other cats or dogs. If a dog was very calm and ignored her, that may be okay but her preference is likely to be an only pet. She can be very talkative especially around meal times. She will do great with someone who works from home or is retired since she loves having company.

Sassy needs to be on a special food and some medication in order to keep herself from licking her belly raw. She is a very good medicine taker so don’t let that scare you away. She also must be an indoor only cat (just like all Reuben’s Room cats). She will sometimes try to sneak out of the house so her new family will need to be very watchful to make sure she doesn’t go outside. She is a champ at getting her nails trimmed and she will go to her new home with a couple scratching posts and several other supplies.

She is extremely playful and loves many types of toys and has a favorite tunnel that she enjoys running through. Sassy may occasionally lightly nip if she gets too excited while she is playing but she is very good about stopping when she is told “no.” She likes to knock pens off desks and sit on your computer while you’re trying to work. She particularly enjoys sitting in windows and chatters at the squirrels and birds.
