My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Goose!  He is an approximately 3-year-old, 55lbs (he should be around 65lbs at his ideal weight, male Pit mix. Early June, he was found off of Dower Dr. in Rockwall County emaciated, with a broken leg and severe skin infection. He was never reclaimed.

Shortly after intake, he was taken to the vet for x-rays where it was confirmed that he has two fractures in his right back leg and a severe skin infection.

Due to the severe skin infection, he was not a candidate for surgery to repair the fracture as the high risk of infection would cause him far more harm than good.

He is currently at North Colony Animal Hospital with the focus on his severe skin infection. He is getting deep medicated baths daily, rest and antibiotics. His leg is healed and he can run on it and has the most adorable sideways sit! Goose is friendly and enjoys meeting new people. He keeps his kennel clean like a proper gentleman!

He will make a full recovery and the only thing he needs now is a forever home to call his own. In spite of his injury, he is a happy-go-lucky boy with a smile that doesn't fail!  He walks well on a leash and loves to socialize.  He is a very smart and affectionate guy who will make a family very happy.  He is non-reactive to other animals and he is extremely sweet with people of all shapes and sizes.  His adoption fee includes his neutered, rabies vaccination and basic boosters.  He is microchipped and heartworm negative!  If you are interested in making Goose a member of your family, please visit

We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.

Additional adoption info

Adopters will complete an adoption app. If he/she has a pet, we will check their vet reference and a home visit is not needed (as long as the vet reference is current). All pets must be up to date current on Heartworm prevention and S/N. If a home visit is needed, we will complete that ASAP--as we don't want any delays in the adoption process. The adoption fees are listed here: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-fees/. There is a 5-day grace period to make sure he/she is a good fit for your family. A full refund will be issued if the pet is returned within the 5-day trial period.
