My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Our goofball Shiner is an outstanding Basset Hound who is estimated to be about 5 years old and currently weighs approximately 41 lbs.  He was surrendered by his only family when they could no longer adequately care for him.  He's been with us for a few weeks now and his personality is just starting to emerge.  He is slowly overcoming the stress of undue incarceration.  He was very reserved and fearful when we first got him.  Who wouldn't be?  Live with the only family you've known for 5 years only to find yourself abandoned in jail and not understand why.

Shiner is housetrained (goes to the door and barks when it's time), crate trained, walks well on a leash and loves toys.  He is learning some basic commands and seems very eager to learn and please.  He LOVES to give kisses.  He is fairly low energy, lays around and chills until it's time for a walk, to play or a ride in a car (he loves those).  He's never met a stranger - loves everyone big and small.  He's been around larger and smaller dogs and seems to mix in well.  We've never had him around a cat other than crated cats in Petco, but he showed no interest in them.  He's mostly quiet, but he will bark when entertained or interested in something he feels is unusual.

If you are interested in adding this pup to your family, please fill out our Pre-Adoption Application. The link to this form can be found on the home page of our website, http://dfwpuppatrol.com. It can be submitted via email to info@dfwpuppatrol.com or faxed to 972-767-4849. All of our adoptable pups have an adoption fee of $225, regardless of our expenses, and it includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm test for pups 6 months and older, heartworm treatment if tested positive, deworming and/or fecal test, parasite treatment if tested positive, microchipping, any immediate known health issues, and pups 4 months and older are kept current on monthly heartworm prevention.
