My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Toast was brought in by her previous owner.

At SDHS:
Toast is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
Toast is a lovely young lady who loves almost everyone she meets. She doesn't do well with cats, so needs to go to a cat free home. With other dogs, she has sometimes been friendly and playful, but also has shown some jealous behavior towards other dogs who get attention from the owner. Can't blame her, really, she wants all the attention for herself! And a sweet girl like her deserves all the attention. All this said, she may do best being the only pet in in the home. If you would like to meet this toasty girl, grab a leash and collar and head to our Escondido Campus.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
