My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Care Bear
Care Bear is a 1 year old female rabbit. She was born in May of 2023. She can be very sweet but is hesitant to trust. She loves to hop and binky around the house when she is let out to free roam. She has lived with cats her whole life and gets along with them well. She lives with a 4 year old right now and she will eat lettuce and treats from his hands and let him pet her. He always helps feed her each day. She doesn’t like to be held though.

Sometimes if you move too fast for her or she gets scared she will jump at you to defend herself or her territory. She has not offered to bite. Once you build a relationship with her though she can be sweet.

Go meet their pets

At this time, Familiar Hearts Animal Society meetings are by appointment only.

We currently rely on our amazing web of generous fosters throughout the Philadelphia area and will do our best to make a meeting as convenient as possible for both human + animal.

Meetings will need to be coordinated through the foster of the animal you are interested in meeting.

More about this rescue

Mission Statement: To end the unnecessary suffering of homeless companion animals by serving as a refuge and enabling humans to provide them quality and compassionate homes.

Our Vision: Our mission is two-fold; we want to help abandoned pets and we want to help stop pet abandonment.

We operate using a network of kind hearted hands to help find homeless animals veterinary and behavior care and then match them with appropriate forever homes. We also strive to educate pet owners about resources they might utilize in order to best understand how to provide for their friends with furry paws, feathers or claws. We always do our best to help.
