My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peony, the flower, symbolizes bashfulness, love, beauty and happiness. This girl lives up to her name. Peony, is a beautiful, shy, loving girl. She entered the shelter as a puppy and spent nearly a year waiting for someone to see her. She has been in foster care for the past 2 months and I am excited to say that she is finally ready for her opportunity to find a forever home where she can truly blossom.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;The transition from shelter life has not been easy for this beautiful flower. She forgot many of the things that she reportedly knew, such as her potty training and basic commands. andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;She was hesitant and nervous for the first few days outside of the shelter, but when introduced to another foster dog, she began to bloom. Peony has been doing great with potty training, as long as the routine remains consistent. She is still learning to trust humans, so she would do best in a home with another playful, social, patient dog who will kindly let her follow their lead. Small children are still a bit terrifying to her, but with slow introductions, she has done well with older children.andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt; This girl LOVES her treats and toys! She is highly motivated by both and will kindly share with her furry friends, but donandamp;#39;t be mad when she loves her toys to shreds. It was all the entertainment she had for almost a year of her life and thatandamp;#39;s a hard habit to break. andlt;br/andgt;andlt;br/andgt;Peony is believed to be a Lab, Shar Pei mix, around 1.5 years old, about 40 lbs, and previously lived with cats.

Their adoption process

1.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

With hundreds of pets at the shelter and in foster, we recommend checking our website before visiting in person.

2.

Meet the Pet

We recommend bringing the whole family, including resident dogs, to meet the pet you're interested in adopting to ensure it's a good match.

3.

Sign Adoption Contract

Our adoption team will review the adoption contract with you. Adoption fees are $30 for dogs and $5 for cats unless during a special promo.

Additional adoption info

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis and must be made in person. As a high-intake shelter, most of the pets that come to us are strays, meaning we have limited background history on the pet, such as health, behavioral or living history. All adoptions include the animal's spay/neuter procedure, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and city license. All adoptions include a 7 day free trial with our training partner, GoodPup to help ease the transition!
