Meet Ollie, the king of comebacks. Oooo-weeee!!!! This is a sweet one folks. Guard your hearts or come grab him quickly, cuz this 4-5 year old chocolate piebald is not hanging around with us for long.
When Ollie first arrived (from a shelter & no records from his past), he was a FLAMING HOT MESS from tip to tail. His skin was completely irritated and all 4 paws were inflamed. His ears were infected and so was his mouth. Plus he had this huge mass on his chest. All in all, Ollie was long overdue for some medical and physical TLC, and we were very happy to oblige. Most of this is now a thing of the past. Ollie's dental went extremely well, and he actually had ZERO extractions - amazing for so much yuck in there. His mass is gone and his ears, paws & skin are healing up nicely. Also, he is on a hydrolyzed protein diet (we will explain when you apply) for the skin issues. This may be able to be eliminated in the future. WAY TO GO OLLIE!!! This is quite the rapid recovery for a dog that's been with us for ~ 4 weeks.
Sweetness is Ollie's top character trait. He loves absolutely everyone he meets. He also enjoys toys....really really enjoys them. Since his feet don't hurt anymore, he's now wants to get up and play with the toys and the other dogs in the house. Check out the video with him romping with this foster fur sister! So much SUNSHINE! Also, Ollie is house-trained and will go to the door and bark to let you know he needs to go out. He prefers a scheduled routine, and once he learns it, he will adhere to it, but you've got to do your part as well. On a schedule, he does not have accidents in the house. And now that his feet don't hurt so much to walk anymore, he's much happier to go out when you ask him to, but he does like you to join him on his galivant around the yard.
Ollie is a bigger boy, and while he maybe could lose another pound or so, he's closer to being a standard sized dachshund. Also, check out that adorable spot on the back of his neck. BOOP!!! You just want to kiss it. {SMOOCHIES} 😘 💋
If you are interested in adopting Ollie, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our
online adoption application. Ollie's adoption fee is $650. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Ollie will go to his new home microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.
Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.
Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.
DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
