My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ruby is a HAPPY, social, outgoing LOVE.
This staff favorite enjoys meeting new people, and getting all the lubbins.💕We have been lucky enough to get a FLorida foster. Ruby will be coming to Florida next Friday the 28th. She will be vetted, spayed and assessed.
We would like a shepherd savvy adopter. Her heartworm treatment has been sponsored, so if you are considering her, please google fast kill and slow kill heartworm treatments. It is not difficult and really just involves low level exercise as opposed to high level exercise. ie kicking a ball for her to chase as opposed to throwing a disc /swimming/laps around the yard. Training, bonding, manners class are all good things to do during heartworm treatment.
She is best suited for older kids due to her size.
For that reason, she might accidentally knock down really little kids. But she absolutely ADORES the kiddos.
And while she's a little older, she still has a lot of puppy playfulness.
Ruby does test well with other dogs, mostly ignores.
Please share this gorgeous, good girl. She really will make the perfect family dog. She is Light Heartworm Positive, but there are low cost, "Slow Kill" inexpensive treatment options for that. Slow kill heartworm treatment involves nothing more than heartworm prevention monthly.
She will be fostered in the Venice area. Apps can be found at ewenityfarmsbch.com.. Thank you!!
Update 6/29 Ruby is here and will start all her evaluation and her needed treatment. She is a sweet lovable girl who wants a forever home. More to come. Update 7/4 Ruby gets along well with other dogs, some times can be somewhat dominant. She is housebroken and well mannered. She walks very well on a lease. Very sweet and loving all she wants is to be loved, petted and a forever home.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require potential adopters to fill out an Adoption Application. When that is approved we can arrange for the prospective adopter to meet the dog they are interested in. We do require an adoption contract to be signed at time of adoption. We have a virtual home-check process (don't forget to submit photos of the exterior of your home!) Adoption fees range depending on the age of the dog. We do have dogs located at qualified fosters throughout the state and also out of state.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Since all rescue dogs live in foster homes, there is no single facility to meet pups.

You will need to contact Ewenity Farms HDH to make arrangements to meet the rescue dog after you have an approved app on file. Apps can be filled out at ewenityfarm.org

More about this rescue

We are a small, foster-based rescue organization located in Southwest Florida. Being small helps us give more one-on-one attention to individual dogs and their needs. Rescued dogs are kept in our homes and treated as our own. Herding dogs are unique. They are highly intelligent and require much of the owner’s attention. The dogs are evaluated, when they come into the rescue, for any temperament and health issues. Then they are given basic obedience, socialization and rehabilitation as it is necessary.

It is our sole purpose to find forever homes for these loving, wonderful dogs that have been discarded through no fault of their own. All adopted dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, micro-chipped, and on flea and heartworm preventative.
