My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Checo! I was named after Formula One racecar driver Sergio “Checo” Perez because I love racing and wrestling with my brother Fernando. If I am not running around the house, you can find me cuddling with my siblings or splooting in the sunlight. I am shy at first because I had to get medication for an infection I had when I was younger, and I hated it. (Sometimes I have a little discharge from my left eye, but it just needs to be wiped away.) But once I trust that you`re not going to give me more meds, I just LOVE to be petted, and will warm up very fast to you. I have a big heart and a big stomach because I love cuddling just as much as getting treats from you!

Checo and his siblings came to us from another shelter in LA.

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
