My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET MURPHY - located in ORANGE CITY, FL - Volusia County, FL (4 hrs. of Broward)

This handsome fella WAS DUMPED in a wooded area in NW Volusia County in Florida - He is about 6 months old and only weighs about 35 lbs. (His weight should be about 50 lbs.)

He had been seen wandering on the land for a couple weeks before he approached the human.  He was immediately taken to see a local vet and his initial tests were good.  NO ISSUES - He will be thoroughly vetted and put on flea/tick & heartworm prevention in the next couple days.

He is in a foster home in Orange City, FL - and will be neutered and chipped as soon as we can arrange it.  He walks well on a leash - loves playing with his toys - but is still 'reactive' when he meets other dogs.

Adoption fee $350

If you are interested - please email for an application: info@gratefulpaws.org

NOTE: Adoption fees are applied towards the vet bill: exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, and microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next or previous pet - who may have had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.

Additional adoption info

We perform a telephone or in-person interview and ask our perspective adopters to complete an application for review by our board (generally takes a day or less). We want to meet the family, so we will come to your house to see where our pet will live. We do a vet check and if applicable, a landlord or condo association check as well. And finally, we accept an adoption donation that is applied towards the vet and care bill for that pet. The range is from $75 to $350.

For the most part, we reply primarily on the internet because we all work full-time jobs during the week!

We do not have a physical building - just private foster homes.

Our EMAIL is monitored day and night, and is the BEST way to contact us.

More about this rescue

We are a group of animal loving people who volunteer our time to save the life of an animal in need. We are not breed specific but our ability to help depends entirely upon whether we have a foster home in which to place the pet while we are looking for a new forever home.

We are entirely volunteer and none of us are compensated for our time or efforts. Monies donated go toward the animals in our care.
