Margarita is a 4 year old Schnauzer x Dachshund mix who is ready to mix up a customized cocktail of love and snuggles for you! Margarita was rescued from a hoarding situation and taken to a local, overflowing shelter. We answered the paw signal they sent up and rushed in to take as many dogs as we could. After several baths and a long pampering session with a brush, we saw Margarita’s lovely coat emerge along with her personality. Despite her rough start, Margarita showed instant trust in her rescuers and allowed us to help her turn into the dog we see today. Now, this low-riding lover is ready to find her forever home and live her best life.

Margarita is a sweet and loving gal ready to make the most of her second chance at a happily ever after. She loves pets and snuggles and adores her people. She loves following her foster parents around the house but is also happy to keep herself occupied with a couch nap when she needs to. Marg has blossomed into a playful pup with so much life and love inside of her. It has been a joy to watch her personality grow by the day. Margarita is a medium energy kind of dog. She is happy to hang out on the couch but can also get her play on. She’s the perfect go with the flow dog. Margarita would be a perfect dog for someone who works from home, as she loves being with her people. She just wants to provide affection to her people forever and ever. This sweet girl adores everyone she meets and clearly has so much to give to the world. We know that her lucky family will hit the lottery when they bring her home. She can’t wait to dote on you as you dress her up and show her off!

Margarita wakes up around 6:30 AM and goes outside with her foster siblings for a morning potty break. She has her breakfast at 8 AM and then heads out for her morning walk. She gets a good 30 minute romp around the neighborhood. After her walk, she spends her days lounging on the couch or curled up on her foster mom. During the day, Marg mostly sleeps and keeps her foster mom company during Zoom calls. She gets another short walk in the afternoon. Dinner is served at 5 PM and then heads out on another walk. After that walk, Marg spends time cuddling on the couch and watching some TV. After a pre-bed potty trip, Margarita heads into her crate at 11 PM for the night.

Margarita has lived with dogs her entire life and has two foster siblings. Margarita likes to play and would be a great addition to any pack. Margarita has met people of all ages and has warmed up to them all. Marg walks well on a leash and has been making great progress in her outside exposure. She will need continued training and socialization to keep building her confidence. Margarita is house trained. Margarita promises that no matter what flavor of Marg you prefer, she’s the perfect addition!

Margarita is only an option for homes with prior dog owning experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.

More about this rescue

We are passionate folks who love dogs and love people! We strive to make the most appropriate match between human and canine. Because our dogs live in foster homes we know about their temperament and personality and therefore can help families and individuals decide if the dog is a good match or not. We are excited to help people find the right pooch for them and look forward to meeting great folks and welcoming them into the DPS Family.
