My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

With a name like Princess Buttercup you expect delicate, calm, caring- let’s say it, very demure, very mindful, and this one absolutely meets those expectations! From kids to doggie playmates she has a quiet calm everyone who meets her comments on. I don’t know what the world could throw at you that coming home to her wouldn’t fix. Her fur is so soft too which seriously brings her to a level 10 on the cozy comfort scale.

Princess Buttercup is 1.5 years old and we suspect she is a lab/pittie mix but given she is a rescue that is only an educated observation, never a guarantee. Weighing in at 50 lbs she really is giving us petite-pitty and lab love.

From kids to dogs, even cats, she is good company. An absolute natural with kids she brings a gentle, loving presence to any snuggle session or tea party she is invited to join. The best part is if you are watching the cuteness unfold, just when you think it can’t possibly get any sweeter- she will flash you a smile. You can tell me all day dogs don’t smile and I will argue it and use her as proof. She smiles and it is adorable and so heart-warming!

An ideal home for Buttercup could look like so many things, a suburban home with a yard and kids- amazing! An apartment/condo- sounds good, she won’t disturb the neighbors because she is quiet and calm! Being the +1 to a playful dog, yes please! Whatever the details, she is a companion, warm and welcoming, so her ‘tribe” is what matters. If you work from home she is a dream dog! She is crated in the Rescue’s office and visits our clinic staff as well and we all agree- she is an amazing office-mate and in her crate- no whining or even rustling around. When allowed to free-roam the office she will find a little corner spot and cozy up for a nap until you’re ready to take a break.

On top of all of that, she is great on leash! She has an easy pace and is unbothered by passing dogs, continuing to walk at your pace. I can see her enjoying a leisurely stroll to a corner cafe or on a trail headed to your favorite spot. If companion, calm, and ease are words you would use to describe your dream dog, your dreams have come true. Your friends, family, and neighbors will want to know more about her and you will be so proud to say- “She’s a rescue and absolutely amazing!”

Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!

Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:

• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
