Animal Proflie: Patti Mayonaise is an estimated 2-3 year old 55 lb female shepherd mix who was found outside of North Bend with her presumed buddy, Doug the Landseer. Both dogs were in poor shape with no collar, tag or microchipped and processed thru RASKC with no owner found. Patti is smart but cautious, though she warms up quickly to new people. She is dog social though unsure of new dogs on leash and will benefit from a resident dog to show her the ropes. We will share more as we get to know her in foster care.
Foster Updates: Patti has really blossomed in foster care. She is fully house trained and crate trained, and has no signs of separation anxiety. This girl is very food motivated and loves toys (she's a shredder) so she's been easy to train. She knows the "Yes" marker and learns new things quickly and enthusiastically. She is very sweet and has excellent social skills with other dogs, willingly accepting corrections. She likes to run and play with other dogs in the yard and is respectful of those who do not want to play. She would be OK with smaller or larger dogs male or female, but has not been evaluated with cats. She has excellent leash skills (10 out of 10 loose leash walking) and has high pack drive so would not be likely to run off if off leash. She is very excitable coming out of the crate and prone to jumping or rowdy behavior at those times, though she's making great improvements. She needs verbal reminders when she gets grumpy if other dogs show too much interest in her toys but has not offered any aggression. She has not shown any food resource guarding with dogs and no resource guarding at all with humans. She is timid with new people at first but will warm up fully within 10-15 minutes. Patti rides well calmly lowing down in the car, is down for adventures (great trail buddy), loves to fetch, and has enjoyed exploring water but not yet learned to swim.
Patti's ideal family is one that is active and willing to designate time to training. She will thrive with structure and because she is so smart, someone who can give her a "job" (mental/physical stimulation). She would love a canine companion (though not necessary) and a yard to romp in, but an apartment would be adequate provided she got daily dedicated physical activity. Patti has not been evaluated with cats or children.
Adoption Info: Patti's adoption fee is $550, which includes neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, x-rays, health exam, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization.
