My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cutie-patootie puppy Bonnie is all sugar and no spice. She and her mom and brother were rescued from shelter in Houston moments before they were going to be killed...their grandmother, who was only 4, didn't make it. The whole family landed at the shelter when their owner became hospitalized. The mom, Tessa, who looks a lot more boxer-ish than Bonnie does, has been so affectionate and unquestioningly trusting since we met her that we're quite sure they were well-loved in their previous home. She never showed the slightest bit of worry when someone would pick up her babies, even when they were only a couple of weeks old.

Bonnie is as kind and affectionate as she looks like she would be. She loves to be held and snuggled, and demands it when she gets frightened by something big and loud. She may be disappointed when she finds herself grown too big to be scooped up in someone's arms! We don't actually know how big she''s going to get. We don't know who her dad es, and the vet hasn't given us an estimate. Being only a baby, Bonnie is still learning rules of life and discovering the world around her. She's very smart and picks things up quickly, but she seems a little shy and insecure, and still gets scared pretty easily. She'll be fit from slow introductions to new things as her confidence is built through training games and exercsies. She's so smart, she's going to be a lot of fun to teach!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

People can submit an adoption application

2.

Interview

First we do reference checks, THEN we do a full 1 to 1.5 hr interview with the applicant

3.

Home Check

Home checks used to be done in person but lately we do a zoom walk through of the home, checking especially the backyard and crate set up

4.

Meet the Pet

If the dog is here in Canada they can do a meet and greet to finalize that they are in fact who they say they are and a good match

5.

Approve Application

we would send an email approving the adopter (or declining if they aren't approved)

6.

Sign Adoption Contract

We would send the adoption contract which they would fill out and send back.

7.

Pay Fee

They would transfer the adoption fee to cover transport costs and vetting of the dog. Then they would come pick up the dog from the foster.

Additional adoption info

No other additional information. Some of our dogs are adopted as soon as they come up on a "foster-to-adopt" trial period to ensure the perfect match.
