Meet Eggplant! Eggplant, or Eggy as we like to call him, is currently a resident at Chicago Animal Care & Control and is in need of a foster home. Eggy was rescued from a cruelty case with over twenty other dogs. Despite his challenging past, Eggy is a sweet boy who just wants love!
Eggy is the most cuddly of our adult males. He understandably started out a bit reserved and unsure coming to CACC from his previous cruelty life. We could quickly tell Eggy wanted the engagement and craved relationships with his handlers, but that need was never previously met so he was a little unsure. He use to play fetch and that was how he started to build relationships and trust. Now fetch is a thing of the past for Eggy and has been replaced with lap perches and leans. Fetch was the gateway to his true most craved wish. Eggy hoped to be LOVED.
Today, Eggy is our chill, affectionate, big, beautiful, teddy bear of a boy and we absolutely adore him. Eggy just wants to sit at your side and watch the world go by knowing he is safe with a person who cares for him. That is truly all he desires and it’s the least he deserves to have. Eggy is a big boy but usually walks nicely on leash, he enjoys puzzle/treat toys, is relationship driven, and has the potential to have a female dog friend.

Adoption Fees:
Puppies (12 weeks old - 6months): $400
Puppies (6 months - 1 year): $350
Adults (1 year - 9 years): $300
Seniors (10+ years old): $150
1. We require an adoption application to be completed in its entirety. Any application with questions not answered fully will not be considered complete and will not be processed.
2. We check your references and process your application.
3. Phone/email interview - we notify you that we have received your application and go over any areas of concern or speak to you more about the dog in which you are applying for.
4. Set up a meet and greet - this can be at an adoption event, in your home or at the fosters home.
5. Pet meet and greet - we make sure your current pets and your potential new family member are a good match! If you are adopting a dog that is currently with either of our trainers, we will have you bring your dog(s) to our trainer for the meet and greet. **We will not adopt a dog into a situation we do not believe the dog can handle. The dogs are our #1 priority.
6. Finalize the adoption - sign the adoption contract and pay adoption fee - we accept cash or check.
Your adoption fee covers all vaccinations, fecal test, heartworm test, etc as well as spay/neuter and microchipping. No pets will be adopted out until they have a clean bill of health from our veterinarian.

Players for Pits is a 501c3, non profit rescue that connects professional athletes to the community in order to come together to take a stand against the abuse and neglect of animals. PFP serves the western suburbs of Chicago and is a foster based rescue, so the dogs in our care are in foster homes learning the basics of being a well balanced dog versus being in cages at loud boarding facilities.
The athletes involved in our rescue actively support the rescue efforts and help by spreading the word of dogs in need. It is the mission of Players for Pits to educate dog owners about proper pet care - both physical and mental - so that the dogs in our care can be happy, well balanced members of society. It is our goal to rescue dogs from high kill shelters and place them into loving homes in the suburbs. At Players for Pits we stand up for pit bulls, who's character is routinely tarnished and often misrepresented. We recognize the pit bull for what it is: a DOG. And any dog with the right care and owners can be a wonderful pet. While we are an advocate for pit bulls, we do not discriminate based on breed and will take in other breeds if they need you help. Players for Pits is also very active in the community and we co-host clinics to help struggling families maintain their pets health, we train pit bull type dogs to become therapy dogs for children with abusive backgrounds, and we try to involve the community in our goal to reduce pet abandonment.
