BIO:  This handsome guy is Myles, a 4-year-old male black and tan. A former breeder dog, Myles is still learning how to trust people and other dogs but has come a long way since arriving at his foster home. He follows the other dog in his foster home around all the time and has learned a lot from her. Because of that, Myles must go to a home with another dog who he can continue to learn from. Once he feels comfortable with you, he'll follow you around, too, and will want to be with you. Myles would make a great addition to a family with older children and a dog he can hang out with. He’s a very sweet dog; he just needs a little time to feel comfortable with his new family. But he will get there!

Our must-haves for handsome Mr. Myles include:

• A fenced yard
• A home without small children
• A home without male dogs
• A small, young, adult, well-socialized female dog to be his buddy
• Breeder dog experience is a plus
• No apartments, high-rises, or condos

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
