My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A fun and loyal companion who does everything BIG!

Hi, pals! My name is Deebo, and I’m a 1-year-old, 50-pound Bull Terrier mix male.  I’ve come all the way from Ramona to find my furever home!

My foster mama says that I’m a smart, high-energy boy who does everything big.  I play intensely, train intensely, and love my humans intensely.  I also have a goofy and quirky personality that tends to make people laugh.  My favorite activities include walking, running, hiking, playing tug, squeaky tugs, treat feeders that make me think, meeting new people, and getting belly rubs and butt scratches.  (Please note that I do NOT like garden gnome décor!)

My training is coming along quickly, and it doesn’t hurt that I’m highly food motivated.  I’ve also mastered potty-training, crate-training, and leash-training.  I’m working on my tendency to play-bite and jump on people when feeling overstimulated or over-excited but have found that I can be redirected with food and a slip lead-through.  I only have very mild symptoms of separation anxiety and do fine on my own when left behind.  As far as my health goes, I’m in decent shape, but I am currently receiving Cytopoint injections for allergies (prices will vary and depend on vet; frequency and long-term use will vary and be evaluated).  I’ve also already been neutered.

I would do best in an active household, especially one with a big yard for me to play in and get my energy out.  I’d also thrive with a family who could keep up with my training and provide me with the mental and physical activity that I need each day.  Finally, I have made many dog friends and probably do okay with doggie siblings in the home.  Kiddos are A-OK, but older ones are preferred (teens and up) due to my potential mouthiness.

Do we sound like the perfect pair? My adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/. Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
