My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pokey is fostered in Waukesha, WI.

This handsome redhead is Pokey Loki.  Pokey is a 1.5 year old male red tri Australian Shepherd / Border Collie mix.  He currently weighs about 57 lbs and this firery redhead is looking for his person.  Pokey was an owner surrender who lived in an apartment and just didn't have the space and time for him, so they reached out for our help.

Pokey is not the outgoing, social butterfly, but the guy in the back of the room taking it all in before he makes his move.  He is totally the guy that wants to shower you with affection, but only after you've had a couple dates.  Pokey desires an adopter that is willing to commit to him!  He will require someone that is home more frequently than not, and someone who simply wants a best friend to pal around with, be outdoors, and take in all that life has to offer.  Once you gain his trust., Pokey is your friend for life and he can be an expert snuggler.  Tasty meat is a way to this guy's heart.

Pokey is a bit reserved but is learning all kinds of things in his foster home.  He does well with other dogs of all sizes, even small pets.  Pokey is house trained and crate trained, although the crate is not necessarily his favorite place. Because of his size, we do suggest a home with persons over 12 years of age.  Pokey would be fine in a home with another dog, but he'd be ok with all your attention too.  He is

Pokey is ready for his next adventure.  Is that with you?  He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms.

Hadley is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. He does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day.  Proof of heartworm purchase for any current or past pet is required to adopt.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
