Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This sweet older gentleman is Oakley, a large miniature Australian Shepherd. We think he's about 9 years old. He came into the shelter last year grossly obese and clearly neglected, and has been in foster care, getting to a healthy weight so he can go to his forever home!
Oakley is a chill guy, perfect for a family who just wants a dog to hang around with. He likes neighborhood walks but doesn't need or want more. He is housebroken and crate trained, and very well behaved at home
Oakley gets along very well with other dogs once he's met them, but gets agitated on first meeting. After that, he's a total pack team member. He might be ok with an indoor cat; he did bark at the outdoor cat who came and went. He likes kids, but is not suitable to very young ones since he can get grumpy if he doesn't like being touched a certain way.
Oakley is in good health overall, but has a sensitive stomach so he's on a limited ingredient diet. He did have surgery on one torn cruciate, so that's taken care of. The other one is a bit torn, but stable, and not likely to be a problem given his low activity level.
This is the perfect dog for an older person or couple who just wants a low maintenance dog to be part of the family.
