My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tommy is simply awesome - there is no other way to describe this adorable, young tabby. He is super friendly and loves people. As soon as he sees you, he'll cry out the cutest meows until he gets your attention. He wants pets, cuddles, all over body rubs and just any type of loving you can offer him. He loves to play and loves to scratch in his scratcher box and then take a nap in it. Tommy has special needs as we'll explain below, but it does not slow him down one bit! He zooms around our lobby every chance he gets and is so happy doing it!
Tommy has a condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta - also known as Brittle Bone disease. It's a genetic condition that results in fragile bones or bone deformities. Tommy has hind leg and tail deformities which are likely due to prior fractures.
His bloodwork revealed he was deficient in calcium, so he was started on a calcium supplement. Every day he gets two Tums mixed in a Churu or similar lickable treat. His recent radiographs showed improvement in the cortex of his bones. So, the strength of his bones has improved which makes him less likely to fracture a bone. His deformities will remain, but like we said, they don't slow him down and he is not in pain.
Tommy also has chronic constipation, but it's easily managed with canned cat food twice a day and a few medications. The medications are pretty inexpensive too.
While Tommy's bones are improving, we do recommend that an adopter maintain a safer environment - such as preventing him from jumping off furniture - than would be necessary for other cats.

Tommy's adoption fee is sponsored! How cool is that?
