My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I'm Artie,
I'm as sweet as a candy, and playful as a puppy. Stuffed toys are great. I love to snuggle, it's my favorite thing in the world! Well, that and belly rubs. Have you ever seen a dog that loves belly rubs more than me? I doubt it! Outside time is my favorite time. The wind in my fur, the sun on my back, it's the best! And humans, oh, how I love humans once I warm up to you. You guys are the best at snuggles and belly rubs.
I have not been cat tested. I have lived with several other dogs, however, I would prefer to be the only dog. I have a knack for instigating things then leaving.
I I promise to be your loyal friend, your comforter on bad days, and your cheerleader on good ones. Why should you adopt me? Because every home needs a loving heart like mine!

More about this shelter

The Allegany County Animal Shelter serves as the municipal shelter for Allegany County and is located at 716 Furnace Street in Cumberland. For many years, the shelter served as the final destination for nearly 85% of the animals that entered it. In late 2010, a group of passionate citizens led the charge to change the nature of the shelter with a goal of doing as much as possible for every animal, every day. It was the first step on the journey to becoming A Shelter of Hope.
